Bosses' Day is October 16th! Send Flowers!

Send flowers to your Boss for Bosses’ Day!

When is Bosses’ Day? Bosses’ Day always falls on October 16th. This year it falls on a Sunday. Tradition of this holiday states that when it falls on a weekend, the nearest weekday is an appropriate day to celebrate Bosses’ Day. So this year, we can observe Bosses’ Day on Friday, October 14th or Monday, October 17th. National Boss Day offers employees an opportunity to recognize those in supervisory positions. The official name of the holiday is “National Boss Day,” but it is commonly referred to as “Boss’s Day” or “Bosses’ Day”.

Here are some tips on choosing a gift for your boss.

Should I send flowers to my boss for Bosses’ Day? Flowers are a great choice for Bosses’ Day! A large vase or basket of fresh flowers can bring color and style to an otherwise dull office setting. You can send flowers on your own or as a group. Add a message to the flower arrangement saying “Happy Bosses’ Day!”.

What else can I send for Bosses’ Day? Your local florist can provide many gift options for Bosses’ Day! A Dish Garden or Plant for their desk would be an appreciated gift. You may also consider a Gourmet Gift Basket of goodies for your Boss. Balloons can be added for a special touch to flowers, plants and gift baskets. Your local florist can deliver your gift along with your message.

Where did Bosses’ Day come from? National Boss Day was started in 1958 when Patricia Bays Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Ill., registered the holiday with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. She designated October 16 as the special day because it was her father’s birthday. Ms. Haroski’s purpose was to designate a day to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses. She also hoped to improve the relationship between employees and supervisors. She believed young employees often do not realize the challenges bosses face in running a business.

Remember, to get the best value, order directly from the florist that will be designing & delivering your gift. No middleman, no extra fees!

Sweetest Day is Saturday, October 15th!

Sweetest Day is on Saturday, October 15th! Sweetest Day did not originate as a romantic holiday like Valentine’s Day. It had it’s origins in the 1920’s when a Cleveland man thought of the city’s orphans and shut-ins, who were too-often forgotten and neglected.

With the help of friends and neighbors, he distributed small gifts to "forgotten" children and elderly on a Saturday in October. The idea caught on and spread from Cleveland to other cities. This time of remembrance began to be known as Sweetest Day.

Once a regional holiday, Sweetest Day has grown to be observed in many parts of the country. Sweetest Day has also evolved into an occasion to remember anyone special in your life. It is a day to remember those who have been especially nice or thoughtful: a special friend or neighbor, someone who cares for your children, a shut-in or even a spouse or family member. Sweeten someone’s Sweetest Day with fresh flowers this year!

Your local florist can design a custom flower arrangement and deliver it with your personalized message. Ask your local florist about other "Sweetest Day" offerings as well such as; Gourmet Gift Baskets, Green & Blooming Plants, Dish Gardens and Balloon Bouquets!
