Sweetest Day is Saturday, October 15th!

Sweetest Day is on Saturday, October 15th! Sweetest Day did not originate as a romantic holiday like Valentine’s Day. It had it’s origins in the 1920’s when a Cleveland man thought of the city’s orphans and shut-ins, who were too-often forgotten and neglected.

With the help of friends and neighbors, he distributed small gifts to "forgotten" children and elderly on a Saturday in October. The idea caught on and spread from Cleveland to other cities. This time of remembrance began to be known as Sweetest Day.

Once a regional holiday, Sweetest Day has grown to be observed in many parts of the country. Sweetest Day has also evolved into an occasion to remember anyone special in your life. It is a day to remember those who have been especially nice or thoughtful: a special friend or neighbor, someone who cares for your children, a shut-in or even a spouse or family member. Sweeten someone’s Sweetest Day with fresh flowers this year!
